Podcast to video with AI
The full episode for YouTube or a clip for Reels and TikTok, with the show's title, bars that follow the voices and subtitles. On your PC.
Updated: October 2026 · 6 min read
A podcast becomes a video in two ways: the full episode in landscape for YouTube, or a clip in portrait for Reels, TikTok and Shorts. With AppGrabbit: drop the mp3 (whole or already cut) onto Subtitles with AI, click Get subtitles (1 credit, the AI transcribes on your PC), pick format, background and title on the preview (free) and Make the video leaves you the MP4 with bars that follow the voices and subtitles. Without uploading the episode anywhere. 1 credit · the video: Pro

Two roads: the full episode or a clip
| Full episode | Clip | |
|---|---|---|
| For | YouTube (and your website) | Reels, TikTok, Shorts, Stories |
| Format | ✓ Landscape 16:9, 1920×1080 | ✓ Portrait 9:16, 1080×1920 (or Square 1:1) |
| Subtitles | ✓ Classic, two lines at the bottom | ✓ Center, the spoken word in yellow |
| What you give the app | The whole mp3 | The mp3 already cut to the clip |
| How long it takes | An hour of audio, about 11 minutes | A 51-second clip, about 9 seconds |
How to pull out the clip that is worth it
The app converts the whole audio you give it; it does not cut by itself. The trick is the .srt you get when you run the full episode: every sentence carries its minute, so you read the transcript, mark the strong line and know where to cut. You do the cut in Audacity (free) or Windows Voice Recorder, save that piece as mp3 or wav, and drop it in: that is the clip. Each clip is a separate job.
Where the episode's audio comes from
If the podcast is yours, you have the mp3. If it is someone else's and you want a clip to comment on or study, almost every podcast is published through RSS with an open mp3 (the show's website has the download link), and many are on YouTube or SoundCloud: with those links the app downloads only the audio. Spotify does not let you download the audio, and Spotify exclusives exist nowhere else. Same as we explain in the podcast-to-text guide.
What you get, in numbers
- Bars — 64 in landscape, 40 in portrait and square, mirrored; they are the real spectrum of the voices, leveled first.
- Title — the show's and the episode's name, up to 70 characters, with “AUDIO · 42:10” below.
- Subtitles — timed word by word, cut to two lines of 42 characters; they show about 150 milliseconds before the voice, as the trade does.
- File — H.264 MP4 at 30 fps with AAC; in the Subtitles folder and in the Library.

Step by step
- 1Install AppGrabbit for Windows — Download the free installer (everything included). Windows will say it protected your PC because the installer is not code-signed: click More info, then Run anyway.
- 2Get the episode's audio — The mp3 from your podcast host (or from the RSS feed, on the show's website), or the link if the episode is on SoundCloud or YouTube. Spotify does not let you download the audio; the podcast-to-text guide explains the way round.
- 3Decide: full episode or a clip — For YouTube, the full episode. For Reels, TikTok or Shorts, cut the audio down to the clip first (Audacity is free; Windows Voice Recorder's trimmer works too): the app converts whatever you give it, in full.
- 4Drop it onto Download › Subtitles with AI and click “Get subtitles” — 1 credit. The AI transcribes on your PC and leaves the .srt with the minute of every sentence: handy for picking the clip that is worth it.
- 5Pick the format, the background and the title — Landscape 16:9 for YouTube; Portrait 9:16 for Reels, TikTok and Shorts; Square 1:1 for the feed. The title: the show's name and the episode's, or the clip's line. Real preview, free.
- 6Click “Make the video” (Pro or the 7-day pass) — Out comes an H.264 MP4 with AAC audio: background, title, bars that follow the voice and subtitles with the spoken word lit up. It sits in the Subtitles folder and in the Library.
- 7Publish — The full episode to YouTube; the portrait clip to Reels, TikTok or Shorts. H.264 with AAC, what they all ask for.
Frequently asked questions
Yes, one per audio clip you cut: each clip is a job (1 credit for its subtitles; with Pro, as many videos as you like). The app does not cut audio by itself; the full episode's .srt tells you which minute each line is at.
The bars follow the whole audio, whoever speaks. The subtitles are running text, with no “Peter:” and “Anna:”. A conversation reads fine; it does not add per-person labels.
The bars follow it all the same; subtitles only show where there is speech. If the episode is music only, there is no video: the feature needs talking.
Not today: three backgrounds, a title and the format. If you need your branding, the .srt you get here works in any editor.
No. An hour of audio comes out as an hour of video; it just takes longer: about 9 seconds per 51 of audio on the PC we measured it on, plus the transcription (about 30 seconds per 10 minutes with an NVIDIA card).
Getting the subtitles (.srt, .vtt and .txt) costs 1 credit; Free comes with 5 a month. Previewing with format, background and title is free. “Make the video” is for Pro (USD 8.99 a month) or the 7-day pass (USD 3.99, no renewal). There is never a watermark.
Nothing. The audio is transcribed by Whisper (whisper.cpp) on your computer and FFmpeg builds the video right there. With a file of yours it even works offline, after the first time.
