What's new in AppGrabbit 3.2
Credits instead of a wall, transcripts on your PC with or without captions, and your own files.

AppGrabbit 3.2 changes two big things. Free no longer has per-feature walls: you get 5 credits a month and each video, batch, transcript or converted file costs 1; when you hit 0 you can claim 1 more every 48 hours. And transcripts no longer depend on captions: if the video has none, or if you drop a file of yours (a recorded class, a meeting, a voice note), the app transcribes it on your PC with an engine that gets ready by itself the first time. It installs itself on top of 3.1.0.
Credits instead of a wall
In 3.1, Free had separate caps: 5 downloads, 1 batch and 2 transcripts a month. When someone hit one, they were stuck even with the others to spare. Almost nobody got past that point. Now Free has 5 credits a month and you decide where they go: 1 credit is a video, a batch of up to 10 links, a transcript or a converted file. The counter is always at the top, every button says what it costs, and when you reach 0 Claim 1 credit appears right there: one every 48 hours, good for a day. Transcribe any video, with or without captions
If the video has captions, the text comes out instantly as before. If it doesn't, the app downloads only the audio and transcribes it on your computer with whisper.cpp, a speech-recognition engine downloaded once. There are two models: Fast (181 MB, about 8 words wrong in 100) and Accurate (547 MB, about 5). With an NVIDIA card they take about 30 seconds per 10 minutes of video; on the processor alone, about 2 or 6 minutes. The result is the same as always: the .txt with the prompt on top and the .srt with timestamps. A voice detector skips music and silence, and the language is detected on its own (it can be fixed to English, Spanish or Portuguese).
How the engine gets ready the first time
- Right there — when you ask to transcribe something that needs it, the Transcript tab shows the two models with their size and the expected time for that video, and the button says Set up and transcribe. It downloads the engine, checks it, tests it and transcribes by itself when done, even if you switch sections.
- Or from Settings › Transcription — there you see how your PC works (your graphics card or the processor, and why), switch models, remove them or re-check the card.
- Free — downloading the engine and the models costs no credits.
Transcribe on my PC even if it has captions
A new switch in the Transcript tab. For when YouTube's automatic captions are poor (proper names, accents, background music) and you'd rather have the engine transcribe from the audio.
Your own files
Drop a recorded class, a meeting or a voice note (mp4, mkv, mov, webm, mp3, m4a, wav, ogg, opus…) onto the Transcript tab, or pick it with the button, and you get the same .txt with the prompt and the .srt, named after the file. No length cap. The queue shows Audio · Transcribing · Saving and can be cancelled at any step. Guides: recorded class or meeting and WhatsApp voice note.
The converter opens to Free
Converting a file costs 1 credit; it is no longer Pro-only. MP4, MKV, WebM, MP3, WAV, JPG, WebP, HEIC and the editing presets ProRes 422 HQ and DNxHR HQ.
"New" where the new things live
When you enter this version you'll see the tag next to the Transcript tab, in Settings › Transcription and in License › Credits, plus a dot in the menu. They clear on their own as soon as you visit each place.
Extension 1.4.1 and fixes
The Chrome extension popup shows your credits and the button says Grab · 1 credit. YouTube renamed its original automatic track and the app finds it again (and if there is none, it transcribes on your PC). What you just downloaded stays at the top of the queue. The License › Credits history lives in its own scrolling box.
What to do when you open 3.2
- 1Open the app — If you had 3.1.0, the update installs itself and on opening you'll see the New tag on the Transcript tab, in Settings › Transcription and in License › Credits.
- 2Try a file of yours — Drop a voice note or a meeting recording onto the Transcript tab. The first time without captions, the app asks to get ready once and carries on by itself.
- 3Look at your credits — The counter is always at the top; License › Credits shows how many you've used this month and what each button costs.

No. The app updates itself silently on top of 3.1.0 and keeps your license, Library and settings. If you install from scratch, the installer is 109 MB and includes everything.
